Working as a Patient Care Technician at St. Joseph's is a great opportunity for me. In the next three years I see myself becoming a psychiatric nurse. That's where I see myself.

You're never too old to be what you want to be. You can do whatever you plan on doing. I'm looking at Physical Therapy. My goal is to do something that makes a difference.

If you want something, go for it. Come into EOC. They're all very helpful at getting you connected to what you want to do. I don't feel like anything is impossible anymore.

I have a child now.  She is five and she always tells me, 'Mom, I want to be a doctor.' So it would be nice, maybe me being a nurse and my daughter being a doctor... And it would give me the greatest joy to push my daughter to where I couldn't reach.

Working for Shared Prosperity

Work Train fosters shared prosperity in Central New York by creating career opportunities for individuals who are unemployed and underemployed, while helping companies build strong workforces. We serve as a workforce intermediary and strategist, convening partnerships that drive solutions to persistent workforce problems. Our flexible and responsive approach allows us to develop and invest in innovative — and often non-traditional—strategies.

An initiative led by CenterState CEO, Work Train is supported by a local Funder Collaborative, which includes the United Way of CNY, Allyn Family Foundation, Central New York Community Foundation, The Dorothy and Marshall M. Reisman Foundation, The Gifford Foundation, the City of Syracuse and Onondaga County – as well as other financial investment from New York State, local employers, and national organizations.

As an Affiliate of the National Fund for Workforce Solutions, Work Train is part of a national network of workforce initiatives implementing best practices and pursuing systems change in their communities.
